Guest Speaker #1 We had Laura Brush from Franklin, AR who spoke on bee pollinations, the different types of the flowers / trees best to plant for this area. She also raises all types of bamboo and is a mushroom / fungus specialist. She is very knowledgeable of plants and the properties of each. She has offered to opened her home for those that wish to visit and have more in-depth talks of plants. Her number is: (870) 291-4552.
Pollination is about sex - pine trees which have no blooming has to depend on wind, rain, or water to pollinate to female counterparts.
Flowering plants - bio pollination - needs vectors like birds, mammals, bees, beetles, wasps, flies to pick up pollen from one male part and deliver it to the female stigma. She described in detail about the impregnation of the female seed to reproduce plants.

Ron Brownell asked her about the Mountain Mint and said it is a natural way to rid beehives of mites. The plant has an oily film that the bees get onto them and carry back to the hive. It is said it is Cat Nip to Bees.
I found these sites to share:
Guest Speaker #2 Our next Guest Speaker was Myron Kroph. He asked how we were going to order bees next year, as a group again or individually. Think the common thinking was as we did last year - as a group. Folks place orders with the Club and pays the Club. At time of pick-up, the cash is withdrawn from bank and we pay Myron. Then the bees will delivered in a timely manner as agreed upon by both parties.
The price will be $85.00 for a package. It was asked what type of bees. They are mutts. Russian, Italian and Feral combination. His number is (870) 458-3002 to place yours, if you are not going through the club.
He said Nucs he would not recommend because they have higher risk of disease.
He had some of his delicious honey comb for sale that went quickly.
After that we broke up into groups and socialized.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
