Meeting was
called to order 6:30 p.m. by Arrie
Goodwin at Artisan Restaurant in Highland, AR. We had 11 members in
attendance. Arrie gave opening prayer.

Minutes from July 12, 2016 were
edited for corrections and accepted.
Activity
Report:
After the July meeting, Bob Vandergriff approached Arrie Goodwin and suggested to split
the club. Arrie agreed. All are welcome to attend both meetings and
all will remain as members of the Five Rivers Bee Club. The
particulars will be worked out in the days ahead as far as website to accommodate
both locations and posting information for each.
Arrie will be speaking to the Master
Gardeners on August 10th about the importance of bees and what
flowers are best for bees.
Arrie will be speaking in September
to the Highland School Agricultural Department to discuss the possibility of
having the class raise bees. The
workshop of the school will make the hives and the students to become
knowledgeable on the care of bees. Arrie
will be subject matter expert for the school to call upon.

Materials for Fairs reordered from Mann Lake, Kelley
Bees, Pigeon Mountain Trading Company,
and Rossman Apiaries.
Handout packets were made up for distribution. If you have a business card or anything to
hand out, please let Jacque English know.
We will be having booths at the
Izard County (Aug 10-13), Lawrence County (Aug 17-20) and the NCDF (Sep 27
Oct 2). Volunteers are needed to help
man the booths. Sign-up sheets will be
at meetings and posted on Facebook / email us to let us know what times you can
help out.
Thank you Ronda and Carol for
helping out at the Izard County Fair and to Vernon for the helping at the
Lawrence County Fair.
Grandma Country Cooking is hiring ALL POSITIONS - if you know of anyone seeking employment. We will be holding our meetings there from
now on same time (6:30 PM) and the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
