5. Our Guest Speaker was Troy Spalding and he provided information on rearing queens and how Hillbilly Bees does it and been very successful over the years.
I, Jacque, tried to record the evening talk but it did not turn out as expected.
I will try and edit and upload and I apologize in advance on the quality and the choppiness.
After the fact, Arrie asked why I did not use the recorder.
I simply forgot about that, so next speaker, I will use that instead.
The phone only recorded 10 minutes then I had to re-start - thus resulting in a horrible mix.
Therefore, here are 10 minute segments of his talk, I removed the video portion.

Some bullets of his talks:

· If you get a queenless hive, pull a frame of eggs / brood and place inside queenless hive and they will make their own.

· Have to go check and make sure only 2 queen cells in hive - anymore than that - the virgin queens will fight. Look for cells towards the bottom of the frame.

· Flour over frame of larvae brood. put 22 shell over one spot (perfect size for cell) - flour rest of open brood frame.

· OTS (On the Spot) Queen - Each frame - you want to make. Find the eggs in the center - open brood - single out the eggs. Look for comma shaped larvae, upside down larvae = Queen .. the bees will take that upside down frame and create queens. They have to, just their nature.

· 5 Frame Nuc - Solid Brood - Pollen Frame / Nectar

· Put Queen Frame in with Bunch of bees. 10 day cycle - pull queen cell place in new hive.

· A MUST GO TO Website and You Tube: Michael Palmer Mike Palmer and Bees

· Apivar in August at end of the flow / honey harvest.

6. Rest of the night, we just chatted with each other and socialized.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
