Meeting was called to order 6:30 p.m. by Arrie Goodwin at Grandma's Country Cookin' in Hardy, AR.

 

We had 19 members and 2 guests in attendance.  Welcome to our newest members: Thomas Benton and Danny Ashbrook. 

 

Arrie gave opening prayer. 

 

Treasurer Report (Books are open for any member to review) FNBC Checking - $528.67

 

Memberships – 41 paid members.  Help your club and renew.  

 

Meeting Minutes from Jun 12, 2018 were accepted as read.  All minutes are online to read if you missed a meeting.

 

Activity Report:

1.   For our up-coming Pot Luck Picnic - the most votes went for September 29, 2018.  It will be held in Loberg Park in Hardy, AR and will be begin around Noon.    The " X " marks the pavilion we'll be using.  

 

 

 

At the next few meetings, we'll start passing around the list on what you wish to bring. Here is the beginning of the list to see what others are bringing to help with reminders.

2.   The Spring River Farmers Market will be open every Saturday, from May 24 to Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  and seeking local honey to sell.    The market is in Cherokee Village Town Center in front of the FNBC and the post office.

 

3.   Jacque shared the dates for the County Fairs and we will be doing the Educational Booths this year. 

July 22 - 28, 2018 Fulton County in Salem

July 30 -Aug 04, 2018  Sharp County in Ash Flat

Aug 6 -11, 2018 Izard County in Melbourne

Aug 13 -18, 2018 Lawrence County Fair in Imboden

4.  Arrie asked how many emails asking for funds folks received and many of us raised our hands.  He assured us it was not him and it was a spam scam and do not reply to it.   He would call or stop by face to face - he does not do emails.

 

5.  Arrie said Donna from Glass Company has a new price sheet and new items.

 

6.  Arrie wanted the membership to know that when he is out of his own honey, he does buy from another source to keep his customers happy until his own bees produces.   He said there were a few other members that did the same (no names were given). 

 

7.  Myron has wax blocks for sale for $4.00 / each.

 

8.  John Stewart is no longer making and selling hives boxes.

 

9.  Jacque relayed the State paperwork for our non-profit had been submitted and approved for this year.

 

10.  Jacque passed around the NON-FOOD GRADE Insect dust  by St. Gabriel Organics to help with hive beetles.  The Beetle Blaster can be bought at Hirches.  Ron Brownell uses CD cases and places in the bottom of the hive in the far back dark corner.

 

11.   Perfect Bees offers online classes regarding Beekeeping.  A good thing to check out.   https://www.perfectbee.com/beekeeping-course/

 

12.  Bee Calendar : Thanks to UAEX.edu  Let's you see what you should be doing for each month.

 

13.  Rest of the night, we just chatted with each other and socialized.
